The Bay tank is used to exhibit marine life normally found in local bays such as Aransas Bay east of the Aquarium. In addition to an oyster reef, this display will normally contain red drum, black drum, sheepshead, hardhead catfish, pig fish, and Atlantic croaker. This tank is plumbed in common with the black tank directly in front of the Bay tank. The Bay tank is one of the two largest tanks in the Aquarium; it contains 1200 gallons of water and has a large-view acrylic window. This tank and supporting equipment were funded by a grant from the Margaret Sue Rust Foundation and were purchased and installed in 2009. |
