Gulf Eco System

The Gulf tank reflects a scene typical of the near off shore environment of the Gulf depicting a barnacle encrusted structure.  This tank exhibits different types of grouper (such as rock hind, gag, and comb), snapper (lane mangrove, and dog), squirrel fish and sea robins.  The round tank also exhibits Gulf/Bay marine life such as giant hermit crabs, spade fish, filefish, and sea robins. The round tank is shown below.

One of the two largest tanks in the Aquarium, at 1200 gallons with large acrylic viewing windows.   This tank and supporting equipment were funded by a grant from the Margaret Sue Rust Foundation and were purchased and installed in 2009.
